On the Northern edge of Bainsghat stands a tall, 250-year old Hindu temple. It took us 5 days to paint entrance with the symbols of the sun and the moon, as requested by the local priest.
“Jaimashi” is a form of greating used by the Christian community. It is painted on the edge of the slum, facing the sacred river of Bagmati, which is now buried under a massive rubbish tip.
We’re in Kathmandu, Nepal, for the 3rd episode of Share The Word. The first word we were given to paint is “Welcome”. The piece takes up 10 houses around a square in the slum of Bainsighat.
