Mariscal Sucre is the name of the low income neighbourhood we’re working in. The people thought it would be great if we painted the name of the place on this large wall which is visible from the main road. Now everyone knows the name !

Sharing words in Mariscal Sucre, Bogota !
Share the Word episode 4 is under way here in Bogota, Colombia. We’re working in a neighbourhood called Mariscal Sucre which is situated on the mountain side in the East of the city. It’s a favela-type neighbourhood which no one goes to, and which is seperated from the rest of the city by a dual carridge way. I’ve been painting with proper spray paints which I’ve found locally, a real change from the previous projects!
For the moment, the inhabitants have been amazing and have given us a bunch of great words to share!

Hindu Temple
On the Northern edge of Bainsghat stands a tall, 250-year old Hindu temple. It took us 5 days to paint entrance with the symbols of the sun and the moon, as requested by the local priest.
Sharing the Word Jaimashi
“Jaimashi” is a form of greating used by the Christian community. It is painted on the edge of the slum, facing the sacred river of Bagmati, which is now buried under a massive rubbish tip.
