We are often asked to paint this word, and I think it sums up the slums pretty well. Thank you to the people of Lideta for having chosen “unity”!

“Mercy” was the word that Hermes (15 years old) wanted us to paint on his house, in the slum of Lideta, Addis Ababa.

Sissay chose the word “Ethiopia” written in the local Amharic scrpit. It’s always a good challenge to paint in new scrpits !

This is the slum we have chosen to work in for our Share The Word Project in Ethiopia. The neighbourhood is situated in the West of Addis Ababa.

Share the Word episode 4 is under way here in Bogota, Colombia. We’re working in a neighbourhood called Mariscal Sucre which is situated on the mountain side in the East of the city. It’s a favela-type neighbourhood which no one goes to, and which is seperated from the rest of the city by a dual carridge way. I’ve been painting with proper spray paints which I’ve found locally, a real change from the previous projects!
For the moment, the inhabitants have been amazing and have given us a bunch of great words to share!
